History of the NEPW
The Group was formed as a result of the closure in September 2000 of the 'Starting Out' and 'Advanced' photography classes at Tendring Adult Community College at Green Lodge.
After the closure Mike Vaughan Chatfield, the tutor at the college, contacted the students to arrange a meeting, with a view to creating a photographic group so that the students could continue their studies
The aim being to allow those students on the Starting-Out course to continue their studies and to improve their photographic techniques, and for the Advanced students to work towards acquiring their Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society (LRPS) and possibly advance to the Associateship (ARPS).
The workshop helps members to expand their range of photographic skills in all aspects of photography i.e. film processing and printing, mounting prints, photographing landscapes, portraiture, wildlife, sport, creative, abstract etc. in both the traditional and digital forms.
The preliminary meeting was held on 6th March 2001 at Holland Public Hall when twelve members attended a further three members were unable to attend). After some discussion it was decided that there would be two sub-groups, starting-out and advanced.
The two groups would meet on alternate Tuesdays, with joint meetings when there were visits from RPS assessors or technical talks/advice from judges etc. The two sections later amalgamated into a single group, as it was found that both gained from closer interaction and discussion of ideas.

New members are always welcome. You do not necessarily need to work towards LRPS/ARPS qualifications.
If you take photographs, but find that you are disappointed with the results of your work, then come along to one of our meetings.
Bring some of your prints/slides and discuss your problems with our members and you will soon be producing better pictures. After all, we were all beginners at some time!
We had a very full programme last year(2012), and are looking forward to this year's with some interesting events and some inspiring guest speakers.
The present membership is around twenty, and new members are always welcome.
Whatever your level of photographic skill. You will find plenty of help available from our more experienced members.
If you have an interest in photography and would like to improve your work then contact
